Small Dog Clothes
Thursday, November 5th, 2009Fashions in small dog clothes are changing, and there’s lots of new and exciting lines of clothes for small dogs coming to a per shop near you – soon. Because more and more people are pampering their pets, especially small dogs, there’s an ever increasing interest by some pretty big clothing stores to add ranges of small dogs clothes to their lines.
In fact the industry around small dog clothes is now so big that just recently there was a fashion show in London, UK entirely devoted to small dog clothing lines. When that happens, you now there is enough interest in an industry to justify investment.
While that may not be of much interest to a lot of people, it’s good news for people like us who are mad keen on clothing our small friends, and buying them trendy looking, and functional cheap small dog clothes, without worrying about breaking the bank. As more companies devote growing segments of their development and marketing budgets into the industry, it means more companies will be following suit, having noticed that their competitors are investing into the industry. This increase in competition means a better selection of small dog clothing and better prices. Fashionable and cheap small dog clothes – every pooches dream (or at least every owners dream!)
Anyway, back to the cheap small dog clothes fashion show I was talking about. The main theme of the show was in covering two new fashion trends that are emerging in clothes for small dogs – those being clothes that are designed to be worn as layers (which would be great for additional warmth during the winter months), and full body clothing ranges.
The ranges of small dog clothes that can be worn in layers are a great way to extend the life of these clothes. They consist of a lighter layer, which can be worn during warmer months in Spring and Autumn, and an upper layer which can either be worn on it’s own, or on top of the thinner under layer for extra warmth when it gets cold.
These layered designs were shown in many different styles, from the more traditional look to a few sporty numbers, and even a few gothic looking outfits as well made there way onto the cat walk (or should that be dog-walk?).
The second fashion statement that was being introduced was the full body clothes for small dogs. As the name suggests, these were full body suits (some even included sewn in dog shoes), that ultimately allow your dog to go out in extreme weather conditions when it’s very cold or covered in snow. Most of the small dogs clothes in these lines were styled like a wrap-around, where the garment is laid on the back of your dog, wrapped round his or her legs, and zipped closed under the stomach and chest. A Velcro fastening covered the zip to help keep it waterproof and windproof.
Fortunately, there were several stands at the show selling these new lines of small dog clothing, and one or two of them said they would be introducing lines in extra small dog clothes for some of the more popular ranges.
